Testimonials

We do what we do because we know it makes a difference. Since 2000 we have been building a supportive community for fathers, and are proud of the changes we have made in people's lives

“I was referred to DadsWork in April 2019 following the breakup of my marriage and becoming homeless.

I was initially reluctant to receive help or integrate with the other service users, because I thought I could ‘do it on my own’; I was wrong.

Kevin & Neil listened to my predicament, and more importantly understood my feelings and needs, initially offering arms-length support to help me rebuild my life.

Through their patience and expertise,  I began to interact with others again, and looked forward to our meetings, and the various Dad’s groups available, they helped me secure accommodation, provided counselling (which was invaluable), accompanied me to family court hearings and basically became my friends without prejudice.

I have now rebuilt my life with their help and guidance, and even though I no longer need regular support, I keep in touch and know that they are still there for me.“

“Having recently retired I was looking for something to fill in one or two days a week.

I had always thought about joining the Men Shed and am so glad I did. You always receive a warm welcome. Since my first visit I have discovered talents in wood work which surprised me! It has been good to be involved in community projects and I have been motivated to try out personal projects. I really enjoy listening to other people’s stories over coffee and a biscuit.

Joining the Men’s Shed has definitely given me a focus and opportunities to get involved in activities I’m sure I would not have discovered otherwise. I’m so happy that I joined this group.“

“We love going to the caravan because it is such a relaxing and peaceful place with friendly people. There are lots of great walks and a lots to explore with such beautiful views to die for. Logan (age 7) loves how all the kids mix together and play together at the park, the beach is beautiful and clean, when we go there it is just like a second home to us. We really enjoy it there, in fact we love it there.”
